Community Fund Grants

10 years from now, what will our community wish we would have done today?

Each year, Heritage Fund grants over $700,000 to local organizations through our grants programs to support our nonprofit partners in our effort to build a better Bartholomew County.

Utilizing input from community experts in healthcare, economic development, social services, government, and the arts, Heritage Fund created a list of Areas of Impact that drive proactive grantmaking.

With a committed focus on Youth Development; Downtown Vitality; and Arts, Culture, Architecture and Design, our strategic grantmaking strives to make a positive difference in these priority funding areas.

Grant awards are announced approximately 12 weeks after each deadline.

AEI Youth Sports Fund

Field of Interest Fund established in 2019 by Analytical Engineering, Inc to provide financial assistance for sports participation for youth ages 18 & under residing in Bartholomew and surrounding counties.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for area youth to participate in athletic and fitness programs. Kids’ sports can be expensive and participation can be prohibitive for those with financial need. Through this fund, AEI hopes to provide additional access to athletic and fitness activities to youth with financial barriers to participation.

Individuals and organizations are encouraged to apply.

Quarterly Deadlines are as follows:

African American Foundation of Bartholomew County

Field of Interest Fund established in to enhance the quality of life for the African American community, and therefore the broader community.

Purpose: To improve the African American community in Bartholomew County through education, leadership development, economic/career development, health awareness, and arts and culture.

Grant Opportunity

Hawcreek-Flat Rock Area Endowment Fund

Field of Interest Fund established in 2003 by residents in Hawcreek and Flat Rock Townships to do good things forever in Hawcreek and Flat Rock townships, including Hope, Hartsville and Clifford.

Purpose: To support projects in the Northeast corner of Bartholomew County.

Grant Opportunity

The Nala Fund

Field of Interest Fund established in 2020 by the May family after the tragic and sudden loss of their dog Nala to provide emergency medical care to dogs in her memory.

Purpose: To help local veterinarians provide emergency medical care to dogs in need and to provide care for dogs waiting to be adopted from local shelters.

Working in partnership with the Bartholomew County Humane Society (BCHS), Animal Care Services and hearts4paws, local veterinarians are able to request funds for dogs in need. Funds will be administered annually on a first-come, first-served basis.

Voelz, Reed , & Mount Foundation

Field of Interest Fund established in to support nonprofit organizations in Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, and Decatur counties that have a positive impact on the lives of senior citizens, individuals with disabilities and their families.

The Voelz, Reed, & Mount Foundation was established to give back to the local communities where they do business. Nonprofit organizations in Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, and
Decatur counties are invited to submit a grant application for projects and programs that have a positive impact on the lives of senior citizens and their families.

GRANT GUIDELINES
Nonprofit organizations in Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, and Decator counties that serve aging adults and individuals with special needs are eligible to apply for grant funding for projects and programs that have a positive and direct impact on these populations. The average grant award will be $500-$1,500; however larger grants may be considered. The deadline for
grant applications is Friday, May 2, 2025.

The size and number of grants awarded will be dependent upon the quantity of applications received. After reviewing the submitted applications, The Voelz, Reed, & Mount Foundation
reserves the right to decline funding to any request.

REPORTING
All grantees are encouraged to submit an email letting us know how funds were used to help seniors. Pictures may also be submitted via email to the address above.
