Betty F. Brown Awards for Instrumental Excellence

Description

Established by Robert N. Brown in memory of his wife, Betty, who passed away in 1991. Mrs. Brown played an active part in the arts community in Bartholomew County and the state of Indiana.

2026 Competition Date: Saturday, February 14 at Haddad Hall!

 

Criteria

  • Any Bartholomew County resident who is a high school sophomore, junior, or senior instrumentalist.
  • The scholarships are determined by an instrumental competition conducted in February each year.
  • Seniors compete for college scholarships and an invitation to audition with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic.
  • Sophomores and juniors compete for scholarships for private lessons or music camps.
