Goldie Gibson Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Goldie Gibson. Ms. Gibson worked on behalf of the poor in Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, and adjacent counties.

Fred L. Armstrong Future Leaders Scholarship

Established in 2011 by the many friends and colleagues of former Mayor Fred L. Armstrong, to honor his many years of dedication and service to the city of Columbus. Mayor Armstrong started on the Columbus Police Department and then served as Mayor of Columbus from 1996 to 2011.

Frank Burbrink Memorial 4-H Scholarship

Established in 2008 in memory of Frank Burbrink by his parents, Greg and Bonnie Burbrink, and family and friends to celebrate and honor Frank’s love of 4-H and the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair. Frank was a nine-year member of the Bartholomew County 4-H program and held various leadership positions on 4-H and the Fair Board until his death from a car accident in 2007.

Duane Barrows Scholarship

Established in memory of Duane Barrows, a coach at Columbus High School, who died in an auto accident in 1979. Coach Barrows led the Columbus High School swimming team to six state swimming championships.

Dr. & Mrs. Edward L. Probst Medical School Scholarship

Established by Dr. and Mrs. Probst to assist students attending medical school. Dr. Probst, M.D., grew up in Dearborn County and practiced dermatology for more than 30 years in Columbus. The Probsts are lifelong members of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.

Daniel Altmiller and Elizabeth Altmiller Memorial Scholarship

Established by Bill and Jeanne Altmiller to honor the memory of their son, Danny, who passed away in December 2009, and their daughter, Elizabeth, who passed away in July 2015 and to recognize individuals who give their time and talents to help children with special needs.

Dana Barton Merter Memorial Tennis Scholarship

Established in memory of Dana Barton Merter, an avid tennis player and a supporter of junior tennis. Bartholomew County graduating high school senior who has played tennis and is pursuing post-secondary education. Letter of recommendation from a current or former tennis coach required. Financial need will be considered.
